Poultry processor plucks new solution to meet expectations

ISHIDA has revealed how one of the firm’s multihead weighers has helped improve quality and consistency of packaging at a Polish poultry processor.

Roldrob SA is said to have ‘greatly’ increased production throughput and efficiency, reduced giveaway, and improved the quality of the finished product thanks to the CCW-RV-214W-1S-30-WP.

The 14-head model with three litre hoppers, which replaced a manual weighing process, is handling a range of fresh, chilled and frozen products, including breaded items such as chicken nuggets.

Roldrob SA production manager Sławomir Kołodziejek said, “Although we had a very committed and competent team, manual weighing is extremely difficult and time-consuming, and the probability of weighing errors is very high. Such inconsistencies mean increased costs and lower productivity.

“By comparison, the capabilities of the Ishida weigher, with its enormous capacity and impressive weight consistency, are unrivalled.”

The weigher is handling pack sizes from 120g to 10kg. Ishida added that automation has also reduced the amount of waste generated, as there is no manual interference during the packing process.

Set up and operation are carried out by a single trained operator using the intuitive remote-control unit. By comparison, Ishida said that manual weighing involved up to five personnel. The flexibility of the weigher also means that Roldrob can respond ‘quickly and easily’ to individual customer requirements.

“We can portion the product in a way that meets the price and weight expectations of our clients,” explained Sławomir Kołodziejek.
