PROTEGA Global’s Hexcel Wrap ‘paper bubble wrap’ was crowned Most Innovating Product at the recent Packaging Innovations & Empack exhibition.
Nominated as one of the top 10 innovation products at the show by organisers Easyfairs, the UK-manufactured paper bubble wrap had also been chosen to be displayed in the ‘Innovations Gallery’ at the NEC in Birmingham.
Protega marketing manager Daniel Willock said, “We were delighted at the positive reaction to Hexcel Wrap at the show. To be given the Most Innovating Product accolade as well was the icing on the cake. The packaging industry recognises the giant strides we are making delivering products that are not only environmentally friendly but also manufactured entirely in the UK.”
The firm explained that Hexcel Wrap can be wrapped around products to offer protection ‘equivalent’ to plastic bubble, but without the environmental impact. The paper-based packaging can be dispensed anywhere, either from lightweight free-standing dispensers or from an under-the-bench dispenser, both of which have been developed and manufactured in the UK by Protega.
The company recently announced an investment of £1.3 million bringing together its manufacturing and distribution operations under one roof at a new facility in the UK. The move to the 88,000 sq ft site in Andover is part of a growth strategy, enabling Protega to produce Hexcel Wrap in-house instead of importing materials from overseas.
