BERRY Superfos has revealed how it has provided a packaging solution to help a Swiss de-icing salt provider meet sustainability goals.
Manufacturer Schweizer Salinen’s Taufix de-icing salt is being packed in Berry’s reusable SuperCube pail, incorporating 30% PCR (post-consumer recycled) content.
Oliver Berger, Schweizer Salinen’s business developer Taufix, said, “Pursuing a more sustainable way of doing business is an important aspect of our strategy. Our packaging choice is an inherent part of it, and we were intrigued by the idea of a container made with PCR material. It is spot on: we use less virgin plastic and the container’s sturdy quality meets our expectations.”
Berry revealed a further benefit is the space efficiency of the SuperCube containers, which are said to stack ‘very well’ both filled and empty, while the rectangular shape enables ‘best possible use’ of pallet, storage and truck space.
As well as ensuring the salt stays dry, Berry added that the SuperCube container is ‘very well suited’ for transportation at low winter temperatures to remote alpine regions.
Each SuperCube contains 12.5kg of product. The pail’s artwork highlights that it is made with recycled material.
Uwe Zinnert, business development manager of Berry Superfos, commented, “The lightweight and robust design of our container means it is the perfect solution for this type of application and, importantly, the incorporation of PCR does not impact on its overall performance in any way. It ideally demonstrates how we can support our customers in meeting their sustainability goals while delivering packaging solutions that are fit for purpose.”
