Brian Wilson – Customer Technical Services
How long have you been with Berlin Packaging UK and what are your industry experience and accomplishments?
I recently celebrated my 2 year anniversary with the company. I used to work alongside Robbie from our Customer Technical Services department in a previous job where I gained expertise in ROPP, non-returnable filling NR valves, PET, printing for the spirits industry.
In my role now, I now specialise more on machinery than technical – supply filling, filtration, capping, corking and capsuling and labels.
I am also a self-made videographer and I occasionally take videos when I visit customer production sites. I also know a thing or two about photoshop and have a great DSLR camera!
What is the best part of your job?
The people! In my previous roles, there was not much variety. I love how diverse my current role is. Berlin Packaging UK has a vast customer base and we cater to an unlimited amount of markets – spirits, beer, food, personal care, pharmaceuticals and so on. I am constantly working on various exciting projects. For example, I have recently been asked to delve into the gourmet food machinery market and I have been doing some research for machinery suitable for gourmet food jars!
Hobbies/interesting facts
In my spare time, I am a mountain biker. Additionally, I am a motorcyclist and the proud owner of a fine selection of motorbikes. I also like taking my 15-month-old springer spaniel out for regular walks. I am currently trying to get into running (which has been a challenge)! I am also a big Formula 1 and boxing fan, and I have done power-lifting in the past!

What book or movie have you recently read/seen and why would you recommend it?
A book that I recently thoroughly enjoyed reading is Adrian Newey – How To Build A Car! It was good to see the character behind the story – his enthusiasm is unwavering! He takes a winning mentality and puts it into everything he does.
Sam Erben – Head of Machinery
How long have you been with Berlin Packaging UK and what are your industry experience and accomplishments?
I have been in the packaging industry for the past 9 years. Prior to this, I was a finance professional, in a role that morphed into helping the CEO at Berlin Packaging UK with special projects. This eventually landed me in a Commercial role in the Machinery Team. I am now the Head of Machinery and have been in this team for 6 years now!
What is the best part of your job?
The best part of my role is working on potential projects with customers. I get a high when a customer is 100% satisfied and I know I have gone above and beyond to help!
Hobbies/interesting facts
Spending time with my lovely little newborn, who is the light of my life! My favourite sport is skiing – one that I am very passionate about. I recently ventured to the French Alps for a brilliant ski holiday with my family. I also enjoy sampling different spirits from time to time, especially if they are products from my customers. I also enjoy making cocktails now and then too – a Sam Erben special is a Negroni!
What are your 15 minutes of fame?
One of my proudest achievements is when I won a tennis tournament in school. I once also met Mario Balotelli in Milan!
What book or movie have you recently read/seen and why would you recommend it?
When I get a chance, I do try to immerse myself in a great novel. However, my 11-month-old daughter tries to grab it off me and eat it!
