DUNDEE City councillors are being asked to approve the allocation of a contract for the collection, transferring and reprocessing of mixed glass from across the city.
The contract, if approved, would see Sibelco Green Solutions UK Ltd continue the provision and servicing of the Dundee’s mixed glass from the city’s recycling points and household waste recycling centre.
Neighbourhood services committee convener, councillor Anne Rendall, said, “It is positive that we have received interest from our current supplier to continue our established mixed glass recycling processes as the recycling of glass plays an important part in the city’s recycling efforts.
“Residents can be assured in knowing that their glass materials, disposed of appropriately at the city’s many bring sites or at our recycling centres, will continue to be recycled in a sustainable and environmentally-friendly manner.
“I would urge residents to dispose of their glass materials in a way that makes a difference and make full use of our HWRCs or recycling points around the city.”
The agreement, if approved, will commence from April 2022 for a duration of one year, with the council retaining the option to extend the contract for up to two further periods of six months.
The total value of the contract to the council for the duration of the one-year period is expected to be approximately £26,500 due to rebates.
