Ishida makes senior protein sector-focused appointment

Darren Chandler

ISHIDA Europe has appointed Darren Chandler as general manager of protein solution sales. He will be responsible for business development and growth in the protein sector throughout the EMEA region, including overseeing major projects for meat and poultry applications.

In his new role, Ishida revealed that Darren will lead a team of specialists focusing on the specific needs of the meat and poultry industry, in particular the increasing requirement for automated and fully integrated solutions. He will also work on the development of Ishida’s protein product portfolio.

“Throughout the EMEA region, the protein sector offers great business opportunities, but at the same time this is leading to increased competition,” Darren commented. “Our focus is to ensure that we can meet the specific requirements of customers at every stage of their development – for example, enabling start-up businesses and companies in emerging markets to harness the technology that will allow them to increase production rates to meet demand, as well as bespoke integrated line solutions that maximise throughput and increase efficiencies, helping to counter the problems of labour shortages in organisations in more mature markets.”

Darren joined Ishida in 2008 as a project manager and was appointed project engineering manager in 2014, heading up the central project team at Ishida Europe’s Birmingham base.

“Darren has made a significant contribution to Ishida Europe during his 13 years with the company,” said Mike Cairns, Ishida Europe’s sales director. “His extensive knowledge and experience of the protein sector will be invaluable in helping our customers meet and exceed their business objectives.”

Darren recently completed a three-year Senior Leadership Masters’ Degree Apprenticeship (SLMDA), becoming the first student from the University of Worcester to graduate from this new management degree programme.
