SMURFIT Kappa has secured a whopping 13 WorldStar 2022 Awards.

The packaging giant’s solutions including corrugated packaging for the transportation of fresh fish, a paper-based ceiling luminaire that replaces metal and plastic fittings, and a space-saving solution for confectionery all received top honours.

In the Beverage category, Smurfit Kappa’s TopClip packaging solution, described as a sustainable alternative for the shrink wrap commonly used to bundle multipacks of cans, took home an award. TopClip is one of the company’s Better Planet Packaging portfolio of products.

Smurfit Kappa’s e-commerce credentials were also recognised with a pack for gin and ‘The BeeeerBox’, a one-piece insert for three bottles or cans, being selected as winners.

A winner in the Point-of-Sale category was the ‘Winoteka Netta’ packaging solution for wine. The free-standing display is made from corrugated cardboard and includes decorative wine bags and baskets available for customers to pack their wine.

Saverio Mayer, CEO of Smurfit Kappa Europe, said, “We are delighted and honoured to have been recognised with 13 awards in this prestigious event for our industry. Winning this number of awards is testament to the hard work, talent and creativity of our people here at Smurfit Kappa, and represents our commitment to creating the most innovative and sustainable packaging solutions for our customers even when the challenge is complex.”

The 13 Smurfit Kappa winning products originate from Brazil, the Czech Republic, Germany, Mexico, Poland, Slovakia and Sweden.
