Firms urged to re-focus attention on training to avoid operator ‘knowledge gap’

TRAY sealing business Proseal has claimed a renewed focus on training is ‘critical’ to avoid a ‘knowledge gap’ amongst machine operators caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The firm offers customers both on-site training and a variety of courses at its dedicated training centre in Cheshire.

While social distancing rules and a reduction in site visits have impacted on numbers over the past 20 months, the company added that it is ‘vital’ that businesses re-focus their attention on in-depth training as part of maintaining the throughput and efficiency of their operations.

“For nearly two years, it’s been hard for customers to send operators on courses, or even to invite training onto their premises,” explained training manager Andy Gray. “And while there’s always a place for remote learning, when it comes to effective tray seal usage and maintenance, there’s no substitute for hands-on practical training.

“For our customers in the food and other sectors, any gaps in operator or engineer knowledge can have a big impact.”
