AVANTI Conveyors has secured a site in Harpur Hill, Buxton, to support the firm’s growth plans.
The manufacturer and supplier of handling equipment said that ‘exponential’ growth in the corrugated industry has driven up demand for more automated materials handling systems. As a result, the firm said it has experienced a ‘significant’ increase in demand for its products and has committed to the move to facilitate its continued growth.
The new building will comprise of a purpose build 40,000 square foot manufacturing bay with a 5,500 square foot mezzanine for office space, as well as a 5,000 square foot mezzanine for electrical engineering.
The facility will also provide four bays for full assembly, a new testing area of the Pegasus separator palletiser line, as well as allowing customers an in person or online demonstration and acceptance of their equipment prior to shipment to their site.
Further to this, the firm said it will fulfil its objective to ship conveyors up to 14m in length in single sections for efficient, cost effective installation. Overhead cranes will be used internally for truck loading of large sections of engineering products.
The new welding and fabrication areas will allow a significant percentage of outsourced fabrication to be brought in house, helping ensure their competitive cost base is sustained for the long-term. Avanti Conveyor added that future plans on the site include the addition of an in house powder coating facility and further expansion of product lines.
The expansion will result in the creation of up to 36 new jobs in the local community, including two apprenticeships per year – which the firm said will be ring-fenced for local unemployed people.
Simon Mander, managing director and owner of Avanti Conveyors, said, “We have been searching for some time to locate alternative premises to facilitate the growth and demand and we are delighted to be able to remain in the local high peak area.”
