CARBON neutral water and coffee service company Eden Springs has announced the launch of its new reusable paper cup.
The Eden BIO cup is described as an environmentally friendly and reusable cup designed for both hot and cold beverage solutions. The fully compostable and biodegradable plant-based water cup is available with a capacity of 205ml and features a plant-based biopolymer lining that aims to ensure the cup is firmly sealed and insulated.
According to Eden Springs, the cup is manufactured using 100% renewable materials and is certified to break down in under 12 weeks in industrial composting conditions.
The Seedling logo, featured on the BIO cup, shows that it is certified to be industrially compostable according to the European standard EN 13432, and that it will fully biodegrade in an industrial composting plant under controlled conditions such as temperature, moisture and time frame, leaving nothing behind but water, biomass and CO2.
As part of Eden Springs’ ‘Use, Refill, Reuse’ scheme, the company is encouraging customers to use the BIO cup multiple times before it is disposed of, in a bid to help the environment and eliminate single-use paper cup waste.
Brian Macpherson, managing director at Eden Springs (UK) commented, “As Europe’s largest certified carbon neutral water and coffee services company, Eden is leading the industry on climate action.
“We are committed to environmental care in every part of our business, therefore we are thrilled to be introducing the new BIO cup to our existing range of eco-friendly beverage solutions.
“By introducing a cup that is not only biodegradable, but also reusable, we hope that consumers will think twice before disposing of their paper cups after just one use and the environmental impact caused by single-use cups will reduce.”
