New inhaler helps ensure correct dosages are dispensed

RPC Formatec, part of the RPC Bramlage Division, has unveiled a new inhaler which the firm claims will ensure patients get the correct dose of medication.

The breath-actuated DPI (Dry Powder Inhaler) has been designed so that the powder is only dispensed when the patient inhales deeply enough. This, RPC explained, prevents some of the medication remaining in the chamber or only reaching the mouth instead of the lungs.

The cap can be unscrewed and replaced without the dose being activated to avoid the danger of double-dosing. RPC said the inhaler is calibrated to the specified dose of each powder and can be adapted to the requirements of a range of different formulations.
