A firm in Inchinnan, Renfrewshire has helped provide a luxury finish to a limited edition boxed set commemorating the life of Celtic Football Club founder Brother Walfrid.
Print finishing specialist ACA’s work resulted in a 3D embossed, matt laminated and spot varnished front of the presentation box, which features metallic gold printing onto black, giving a bronzed impression, as well as multilayer UV varnishing.
The boxed set has been produced on behalf of arts group The Nine Muses, which owns a 5×4 foot original oil painting of Brother Walfrid, which sits at the altar of St. Mary’s Church in Glasgow’s east end.
Brother Walfrid was a teacher at the school attached to the church. He set up a football team to raise money to feed the children in his care. That team went on to become current Scottish champions Celtic.
Only 1,888 sets are available (reflecting the year Celtic played its first match) and features a documentary narrated by actor Peter Mullan, as well as an A3 numbered print depiction of Brother Walfrid by artist Peter Howson.
ACA managing director Joe Keenan said, “When we discussed the project with the designers, they were taken aback by the production options we knew we had available. Our work has resulted, we believe, in the presentation box being as much a work of art as the painting itself.
“I am immensely proud of the ACA team’s extraordinary ability to use techniques like foil embossing and multilayer varnishing to take the Brother Walfrid presentation box from being simply a good product to becoming an exceptional one.”
