Antalis appoints packaging technologist to drive CAD offering

Todd Smith

ANTALIS Packaging has appointed Todd Smith to the newly created role of senior packaging technologist.

The firm said he would bring “invaluable experience” of modern packaging design and development, and associated software, having previously worked as a CAD designer for a protective packaging specialist.

Todd has been tasked with overseeing the running of the company’s new in-house CAD design consultancy offer. He will also meet with manufacturers to establish new product developments and innovations.

The appointment follows a six-figure investment by Antalis in new CAD design capabilities, which the firm said was part of a concerted focus on offering personalised consultancy to customers.

Todd will report to Jason Poxon, head of the packaging technologist team. Jason said, “Over recent years, the packaging industry has seen a real shift towards bespoke design and personalisation, both in terms of the aesthetics and functionality of a packaging concept. Aligned to this, Antalis Packaging is now able to provide bespoke packaging designs for customers in-house, enabling them to benefit from a unique pack design developed to their exact needs.

“This follows in our continued commitment to providing the ‘best in class’ packaging proposition on the market. Todd’s role is integral to this, with his skills and experience we are confident we can continue to lead the way in providing customers with the ultimate solution for even the most complex packaging problems.”

Todd added, “Having long recognised Antalis as one of the industry leaders during my time in the packaging sector, it is great to be joining the team. It’s an incredibly exciting time for the business and I’m very passionate about helping to drive the new CAD offering forward over the coming months.”
