Self-activated straw adds ‘wow factor’ to can

BALL Corporation has announced a collaboration with Russian restaurant chain BlackStarBurger to create a ‘striking’ new can using Ball’s Strawster technology, which features a self-activated compact straw that appears once the tab has been engaged.

Ball teamed up with Ovayaco, a company that supplies beverages to Moscow-based BlackStarBurger, to design a new can in response to growing demand for ready-to-drink beverages and energy drinks in Russia.

Ovayaco has introduced a new caramel flavoured energy drink called NRGet to the market. Produced in Belgrade, Serbia, the drink uses Ball’s 25-centiliter slim Strawster can. Ball explained it can also laser logos, simple images and messages directly onto the exterior of the straw.

Ilya Manthay, general manager at Ovayako said, “We chose the Strawster as it is both unique and fun and allows us to offer something different to other energy drinks brands on the market. The new packaging has great prospects, as it is convenient, safe and environmentally friendly.”

It is truly unique and offers a fun and convenient drinking experience for consumers.
