Saica Pack aims for “sustainable future” with machinery upgrades

CORRUGATED cardboard manufacturer Saica Pack has completed a programme of machinery upgrades at its Ashbourne, County Meath plant in Ireland.

The upgrades have been made in a bid to “future-proof and ensure a sustainable future for the business”, by increasing performance capacity and improving its die-cutting and speciality gluing machinery, Saica said.

The upgrades in Ashbourne follow the consolidation of the Saica RENOVE investment programme. The RENOVE programme, launched in 2014, saw €250 million invested in production machinery across 34 European locations including Spain, France, Italy, the UK, Ireland and Turkey.

Speaking on the investments, regional director for Ireland, John Smart said, “It is Saica’s intention to upgrade our machinery and ensure we invest in high-quality conversion and corrugator technology to provide the best service for our customers. For example, at Ashbourne we have upgraded our corrugator to a bespoke performance fluting system, which has yielded great returns.”
