Saica steps up growth plans with Emin Leydier acquisition

SAICA has announced it has completed the acquisition of French paper and corrugated packaging manufacturer Emin Leydier.

The firm said the move strengthens its European growth strategy and will allow for a “significant increase” in capacity of services.

Emin Leydier owns eight industrial locations in France, comprising two paper mills, four integrated plants and two sheet plants. The group employs 1,029 people and had an estimated turnover of 378.4 million euros last year.

Saica said its capacity of production of recycled paper for corrugated cardboard will now increase by 800,000 tonnes, making the business one of the leading manufacturers of recycled paper for corrugated cardboard in Europe.

Saica president Ramón Alejandro said, “This transaction enables Saica to increase its packaging solutions value in the French and European markets, thanks to materials and customers logistics costs optimisation, at the same time as we lower the impact on environment.”

Emin Leydier general manager Yves Herbaut added, “We are proud of joining a renowned industrial player, who shares our values of social dialogue, know-how and proximity to customers. This new situation opens extraordinary possibilities.”
