ACA to invest in sterile environment as growth plans gather pace

PRINT Finishers ACA is poised to invest £400,000 on a sterile environment in its bid to secure British Retail Consortium (BRC) accreditation.

The print finishing specialist, which underwent a £6.5 million buy-in management buyout (BIMBO) last year, will set up the 4800 square metre sterile environment within its existing factory space at Inchinnan Business Park near Glasgow Airport.

The firm said the space, designed to handle packaging materials for food products, will have its own entrance, toilet facilities, canteen and changing rooms. Work is expected to be complete at end of April.

Managing director Joe Keenan said, “We believe that ACA is capable of increasing annual turnover from its current level of £4.6 million to £6 million by 2020. A key part of our expansion plan lies in securing BRC accreditation to allow us to handle packaging work for the UK’s major food manufacturers.

“There are a variety of processes we are working on to gain the accreditation but the main one is the creation of a sterile environment and our plans are advanced to put this in place from later this year. We are successfully pursuing also a series of other important accreditations including ISO9001, the Living Wage and Carbon Neutrality.”

ACA said it believes itself to be the only one-stop print finishing business in the country. The business provides the finishing touch to printing projects for partners in the print and design industry across the UK and Europe.
