Alexis Van Maercke has been appointed Secretary General of APEAL, the Association of European Producers of Steel for Packaging.
He replaces Alexander Mohr, who APEAL confirmed has chosen to pursue new opportunities within another industry.
Before joining APEAL, Mr Van Maercke was policy officer at the European Commission, Directorate General Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs. He also spent five years in the European Parliament as political advisor to Marianne Thyssen MEP, the current Commissioner for Employment and Social Affairs, where he was in charge of legislative files related to food safety, environment and consumer protection.Â
