Machinery seminars tackle safety and robotics

UPCOMING seminars from the Processing and Packaging Machinery Association (PPMA) include “Machinery Risk Assessment” on 1 August, and “Robotic Safety in Automation” on 5 September – both events taking place at the Carlton Hotel at Dublin Airport. The 1 August event seeks to explain the background to machinery safety, how machinery safety fits into the health and safety framework, provision and use of work equipment regulations, risk assessment methods, BS EN ISO 12100:2010, and typical hazards.
Robots are usually supplied as partly completed machinery, requiring the integrator to be responsible for the CE marking of the cell. The robotics event on 5 September is aimed at companies using, purchasing, designing and manufacturing machines incorporating industrial robots and discusses some of the issues regarding “CE” marking of complex assemblies, and the requirements of the various standards including EN ISO 10218.
