Scotland set to support standardised packs

SCOTLAND will be the first part of the UK to support standardised packaging for cigarettes.

The announcement in late March is intended to build on the health benefits that followed the ban on smoking in public places. In December, Australia became the first country in the world to put all tobacco products in standardised packs. Some cigarette makers plan to get around such bans by using printed electronics to produce packaging artworka that becomes visible when in the consumer’s hand.
