Versaperm measuring permeability for better packages

PERMEABILITY of the package is measured by the latest equipment from Versaperm.

PERMEABILITY of the package is measured by the latest equipment from Versaperm.

The intention is to let manufacturers produce increasingly effective packaging that extends product life and boosts quality.
Permeability is the main controlling factor of an enormous range of products and processes – from cornflakes to drugs and on to paper jamming in printers! It is also a critical factor in packaging’s printability and the mechanical handling of paper, films and packaging.
Now, says Versaperm, measuring how contaminants permeate the packaging has become a lot easier, not just with respect to water vapour (hugely the most damaging contaminant), but also for oxygen, nitrogen, CO2, hydrocarbons and almost all other gases and vapours.
Versaperm’s permeability meter is said to be fast and reliable – producing results that are accurate in the parts per million range, (parts per billion in some cases). For some packaging designs this can take as little as 30 minutes. It can optionally control temperature, pressure and other important factors.
