Fürstenberg Holz, based in Hüfingen, Germany, manufactures crates and boxes for transporting products around the world in standard shipping containers.
It turned to Norbord, which has a facility in Cowie, Stirlingshire, to supply OSB grades specially tailored to the packaging sector.
OSB is suitable for packaging because it has a high load carrying capacity, notable bending strength and is easy to machine.
“Our customers have responded positively to our large sizes because it means packaging can be produced for larger shipments without cutting waste, making it cheaper,” explained Daniel Wagner, Norbord product manager for packaging systems.
