Solaris shines light on bagging options

Solaris shines light on bagging optionsITALIAN manufacturer PFM Packaging Machinery has launched a continuous motion vertical form-fill-seal machine developed to give higher output for stand-up bags.
Capable of producing 120 block bottom bags or 120 PFM Steelo four-side-seal packs a minute, the new Solaris is equipped with a new design of lightweight, long dwell box motion sealing jaw which the firm says can reciprocate at elevated speeds without risk of vibration.
Maximum speed on conventional pillow packs is over 200 a minute while, on all styles of bag, seal integrity is assured by control software that provides a constant sealing time, irrespective of overall machine speed.
“Growing interest in Europe in display bags to replace rigid packaging, so reducing packaging weight and pack footprint, has driven demand for faster and more productive machinery,” said PFM sales and operations director Chris Bolton.
“PFM’s response has been to develop the new PFM Solaris, to give output 50-100 per cent higher than existing machinery.”
