The firm has been awarded British Retail Consortium Grade B ‘high risk category’ accreditation after enhancing its skills base through investing in extra training and quality control system. Product is put through a rigorous testing process to ensure complete protection from contamination.

PAPER packaging manufacturer Smurfit Kappa has reinforced its corporate social responsibilities by joining Business In the Community (BITC) UK – a not-for-profit Prince’s Charity that works locally, nationally and internationally through a network of worldwide business partners to advise, support and challenge members to create a sustainable future while improving business performance.

THE Confederation of Paper Industries Corrugated Sector (CPI Corrugated Sector) has appointed Allott and Associates Ltd to act as its public relations agency. The corrugated packaging sector is the largest in the UK packaging industry, with a turnover of approximately £1.2 billion. The move aims to improve its existing relations with the media in order to highlight the economic, sustainability, recycling and presentational benefits of using corrugated packaging.

DRINKS group Cantrell & Cochrane (C&C) has appointed new non-executive directors Tony Smurfit, chief operations officer of Smurfit Kappa and Stewart Gilliland, former CEO of Muller. Bulmers and Magner’s Cider, and Tennent’s are among the products produced by C&C. The company also distributes a number of products in the Scottish, Irish and Northern Irish markets, primarily for Anheuser-Busch, owner of the Budweiser brand.

BRAND and packaging design specialist We Are Pure has unveiled its packaging concept for skin care specialist Marble Hill. The consultancy worked with the firm from the initial concept, implementing the packaging design, advising on packaging structure and building the brand. David Rogers, owner and creative partner, said it created striking containers while emphasising “the clean, soft and gentle element of the range, with a ‘less is more’ approach”.

LABEL printer manufacturer Citizen Systems Europe has appointed Gerhard Mueller as strategic business manager. Mueller is charged with developing partnerships with other manufacturers and promoting cooperation with providers of IT solutions, such as point of sale hardware and mobile devices, and to develop prospects for collaboration with independent software vendors.

DENNY Bros teamed up with SCA Packaging Print & Supply Chain Solutions to deliver the print elements for a Europe-wide promotion designed for EURO 2012 in Poland and Ukraine. The ‘Power to Celebrate’ promo from tournament sponsor Canon used Fix-a-Form multi-page labels to enable the use of a one-label solution for pan-European distribution. Three eight-page Fix-a-Forms were used across a selection of consumer imaging products.

HARIBO is going for goal with a new look design to mark the relaunch of its popular gum and jellies Football Mix. The football themed treats have again received a makeover with special limited edition packaging in national colours, featuring the brand’s Goldbear character. Katy Clark, the sweet manufacturer’s marketing manager, said: “Football Mix will be an eye-catching addition to the confectionery aisle.”
