Xaar tech highlighted at Nilpeter open house event

XAAR’S printheads and technologies formed part of the recent launch of Nilpeter’s new North American Technology & Educational Center at the open house event at its Cincinnati HQ.

The facility highlights Nilpeter’s product portfolio, including flexo, digital, and value-added technologies. As part of this, Xaar’s printbar was integrated into Nilpeter’s FA-17, enabling digital varnish and foiling embellishment capabilities through Xaar’s High Laydown Technology.

Industry professionals saw the digital hybrid line in operation, with live demonstrations across the day. A range of samples showed the quality and features available for high-build varnish and digital foiling that Xaar said make it ‘perfect’ for inline value-added label printing.

Xaar’s High Laydown Technology is described as delivering ‘very high volumes’ of fluid in a single pass with exact temperature control, enabling the creation of high-build inks and varnishes to deliver an array of tactile effects more efficiently.

Digital embellishments, when compared to screen printing, are said to offer shorter setup times and a higher utilisation rate, resulting in small run jobs being completed faster.

Søren Ringbo, general manager digital products at Nilpeter, said, “We were delighted to have Xaar’s printheads and technologies shown as part of the FA-17 at the launch of our new Technology & Educational Center. Digital embellishments increase product shelf-appeal with little to no extra costs for screens, plates or similar and are perfect for adding value to labels in the health, personal care, wine and spirits segments, to name a few.”

Graham Tweedale, COO at Xaar, added, “The open house was a great event, and we were proud to see the digital varnish printbar, developed and manufactured by Xaar, add to the success of Nilpeter’s day. Digital print adds an extra dimension to label production and our printheads and technologies provide users with an extensive range of embellishment capabilities that complement Nilpeter’s innovative flexo presses.”
